Wright’s Gazebo

The design of the Heather House is attributed to Thomas Wright and stood in the Pleasure grounds of Florence Court, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh. Northern Ireland and dates from 1750.

This is an example of our reconstruction work which we carried out for the National Trust for Northern Ireland. We worked from an old photograph of 1880, we carried out extensive site investigations and research .
The walls to the outside are clad with rustic bark or can be thatched with heather and the inside decorated with heavy rustic mosaic work.
The arch to the front of the building is also rustic log work which creates a veranda over the lower level step and shelters the tri partite arch to the rear.
The floor is rustic log block and the roof is thatched with straw.
This 14’ building comes complete with its own foundation and is finished with dark brown stain.
